OK, so I decided to blog as soon as I could before I forget the past 3 hours and 56 minutes. Like childbirth, you forget the feeling at mile 25.3. That tight hip and sore gluteus maximus just seems to disintegrate and you finish saying "that wasn't so bad." That's what I say at least. My cohort says, "I feel fine" or " that was awesome" or my all time favorite "we're halfway there!" I get a little cranky (to put it nicely) towards the end and it is at times like this where we have a love/hate friendship.
I've said it once and I'll say it again.....she is not normal. I'm talking running here just to clarify, Elissa. She seriously is superwoman on these runs. In the 4 years that I have run with her I remember 1 run that she didn't feel that great. ONE RUN in 4 YEARS! I have decided to test her blood for illegal drugs! Do you think she will think it is odd if I ask for a urine sample?
In all honestly today was a great run. Except that it was 26.1 miles. And we got rained on. And it was stinky humid after the rain passed. But, really it was good :)
We had our first practice meal today. English muffin and honey around mile 18ish. English muffin passed the safe test for future mid-run ingestion. I think the McDonalds workers on Lincoln think we are nuts! I don't know what would give them that idea?!? One of the regular cashiers is a runner and he asked about our upcoming run on Aug 22nd......thank you Courier & Press for the exposure!
After I got home I took a nice ice bath. I had on one of Brock's sweatshirts and the water covered my legs- OUCH! Isabelle was very disturbed by the fact that I had on clothes in the bath tub. She was so upset about it that she stood there for the whole 15 minutes screaming "Mommy take off your shirt!!!" I hope everyone read that quote in context :) I really am not sure why I run to de-stress????
26.1 miles, 3hour 56 min, 1 latte, 1 bagel and an ice bath. Can I just call it a day ???????
