Thursday morning the car will be packed with GUs galore, 4 pairs of running shoes, 8 pairs of running socks, 2 garmin forerunners, bandaids, super glue, moleskin, salt tabs, bagels, clif bars, and of course the obvious running clothes. Oh and panchos so we can change clothes or ward off the weather. Whew....and I thought diaper bags were rough!
For fear of being parapalegic on Sunday, we are leaving early on Thursday to go take it easy (shop) in Chicago! The plan says "rest" but we are more into tradition than training plans! We have yet to "take it easy" before a race. Before Boston we walked ALL over the city even touring Harvard until our feet hurt. Memphis, we went to Graceland. Chicago, walked the city and the expo all day. Yeah, we stick to tradition so we feel obligated to do some site seeing (particularly on Michigan Avenue). Must not break tradition!!!!
I really can't believe that the run is this week! I am not nervous, more so in disbelief that we are really doing this. Maybe it's better to be oblivious to reality! No, seriously, this training has been such a journey and some part of me is sad to see it come to an end. I really think we are as ready as we can be. A marathon requires 3-4 hours of clear weather....we are praying for a 9 hour window on Saturday! I am also really hoping that the "windy city" can calm for 9 hours too :)
So if you have an extra minute PLEASE say a prayer for us to have strong bodies and mental toughness on Saturday. We would really, really appreciate prayer (no doubt we will need it)!
As always, "Run when you can, walk if you have too, crawl if you must....but NEVER give up!"

Hey just wanted to say Good Luck and enjoy the run, I've missed you guys the couple of weeks at Starbuck, but have seen you on the road. Kick butt, can't wait to hear all about it. You both will be in my thought and prayers come Saturday.
