This post has absolutely nothing to do about running. Pace with Purpose isn't just about running. We believe in the power of prayer. And as far as I am concerned....the more the better. Let me introduce you to a few babies that could use just that.

Rebecca and Joanna Barnard - truly miracles from God. Mother, Jessica, was given the news early on that one of the girls, now named Joanna, would not make it past the first trimester due to extremely low amniotic fluid. Well, despite all odds, Joanna's little heart kept on beating. She kept on growing and developing. This did, however, take a toll on both babies and despite many ultrasounds and doctor's visits the girls were born at Cincinnati's Children's Hospital at 28 weeks gestation on March 28th. It has been a daily challenge for the girls and right now Rebecca needs prayers. She was born with a heart condition. Currently, her body is wanting to send too much blood to the lungs and not enough to the body. So they are trying to correct with several medicines. They feel this is all being caused by an infection or sepsis although they have not pinpointed it. The plan is to keep her stabilized with medicine until the antibiotics can wipe out the infection. Last night, Jessica and Brandon (parents), were told that they might lose their daughter last night. She did turn a corner after a couple of hours but her battle is a long one and prayers are definitely needed for both babies.

Meet Keegan Chupp. Keegan was delivered 6 weeks premature due to the Pre-E and was hospitalized in the NICU for 2 weeks after birth. At birth we found he had 2 extra digits, one on each hand and 1 extra toe. They also found out that he had a stroke in utero and possibly has an overgrowth syndrome callled Simpson-Golobi-Behmel Syndrome. He has had many test since birth and will be monitored with bi-yearly CT/Ultrasounds to check for tumors. Just recently, after many misdiagnosis, they found a tumor growing in the 4th ventricle of his brain and now it was pushing on his brain stem and causing his system to fail. Keegan is undergoing a 4-6 hour surgery today. Their oncologist told them they are looking at 6 months of treatment, in hospital, chemo (the most aggressive you can get) and even then our prognosis is less than 50%.
Hug your babies and pray for those who can't hug theirs due to ventilators and operating rooms. Pray for God's healing hands for these babies and the strength and comfort that only He can give.

Thank you so much for giving my keegan a shout out for people to pray. our friends will be having MANY fundraisers for us in the coming weeks and months. Check out our facebook group for Keegan @ Karing for Keegan.
