Street Warriors

The street warriors conquered another running weekend victory...44 miles/48 hours. We took off in the dark at 4:30am...in the shadows of the dark the street warriors were on the move. The first 10 miles were pretty much a dark blur, which was good. We have decided that the miles pass by quicker in the dark. I can't really figure out why this is, because our pace is the same, but once the sun comes out the miles seem to drag on.
The street warriors came about because of our mid-run stretch. When our hip flexors are aching at mile18+ we find it fun for all of us to stop at random locations and strike a Warrior yoga pose. The middle of Lincoln Avenue, St Mary's hospital entrance grounds, the Donut Bank...we pretty much pose everywhere. This may not sound humorous at all, but at mile 22, slap happy juices start to kick in and it doesn't take much to laugh. We try to make it picturesque, you know, like the yoga poses at the top of a mountain or on the beach. Picture it. Now picture it in front of a Thortons gas station with fuel belts and a tall "lean" guy who will remain nameless (Marshall) :).
Our memorable stop was once again to fuel up in the St Mary's doc lounge. The doc lounge we visit is right next to the nursery. We can't walk by without stopping and awing and oohing over the new babies. I'm sure that looks normal to the nurses. A group of sweaty, exhausted people warrior posing and gawking through the nursery window. Well, this visit Elissa fell in love with Emilio F. (just in case his parents are looking for Elissa I will only abbreviate). He was adorable, however, Elissa was acting like we were at an auction and trying to bid on him through the glass. It didn't help matters that the nurse then brought little Emilio out to take him to his mommy to nurse. Elissa hovered over him and I was scared she was going to whip out her fuel belt bottle to appease him and make a run for it. I am expecting her picture on St Mary's wall under "WANTED." It may have been our last doc lounge fuel stop because of security issues. Of course I am kidding, Elissa. We will bring you something back while you wait in the parking lot:)

Thanks to the warriors for company and endless entertainment. I feel as though only heart felt words from a touching movie can express my gratitude to the street warrior group (the content may have been edited)

"So there was two of us in the wolf pack, I was alone first in the pack and then Elissa joined later. And months ago when I was introduced to you guys, I thought "wait a second could it be?" and now I know for sure I just added two more guys to my wolf pack. Four of us wolves running around the 'Ville together, looking for Amp and GU. So tonight, I make a toast!"

Until next time.......
